- Lived as merchant often goes into mountains to pray
- Receives message from God/Allah through Angel Gabriel
- Years later still receives message
- passes messages on to family and soon followers also
- Words later recorded in Qur'an
8.5 Muhammad's Teachings Meets with Rejection
- Started gathering many followers
- Others that did not want Muhhamad to succeed boycotted against him
- Muhhamad still went strong despite the haters
- Went on Night Journey
- Visited Allah and Moses; went to heaven and Jerusalem
8.6 From the Migration to the End of His Life
-The people of Madinah invited Muhammad to live there
-They respected Jews and Christians b/c they were people of the book
-Muhammad’s followers won battles and conquered the holy city of Makkah
-Destroyed the statues of other gods in the Ka’ba shrine
- In his Last Sermon, Muhammad said “be faithful and treat each other well."
